Log Cabin intends were prepared in the U.S as early as the 1860s and their edifice introduced the new base method.
In this system, a square of frivolous cotton cloth is cut to the dimension of the block, and cloth is pieced to that base, working from the center out.
Accomplished blocks are then set and sewn jointly.
Since the underpinning acts as an additional inner
layer, these quilts do not typically incorporate
a coating of batting and are not quilted, even
though occasionally they are tied.
The Log Cabin quilt design
has been an extended standing preferred over the years
due to the ease of the design in addition to its adaptability.
In numerous of the old quilts the middle square was red. This
was to signify the fireside of the home. |
